According to Rachael Ray, she grew up in food. “My first vivid memory is watching my mom in a restaurant kitchen. She was flipping something with a spatula. I tried to copy her and ended up grilling my right thumb! I was three or four,” says Rachael, who insists that cooking is a way of life she was simply born into. “Everyone on both sides of my family cooks.”

Rachael has parlayed that birthright into a wildly successful career as a syndicated television star, an iconic Food Network television personality, bestselling cookbook author, Founder and Editorial Director of her own lifestyle magazine and Founder of the Yum-o! organization.

Rachael’s hugely successful syndicated daytime program, Rachael Ray, launched in the fall of 2006. Showcasing Rachael’s warmth, energy and boundless curiosity, the show — produced by CBS Television Distribution in association with Harpo Productions, Scripps Networks and Watch Entertainment — invites viewers to experience life the Rachael Ray way. Credited with getting America back in the kitchen with her easy approach to cooking, Rachael takes the same philosophy — finding simple solutions to everyday problems—beyond the kitchen and into all aspects of the show.

Growing up in a family steeped in culinary tradition, Rachael was exposed to a wide array of cooking techniques, learning lessons from her maternal grandfather who was raised in the traditions of Louisiana. The Ray family owned several restaurants on Cape Cod, Mass., before relocating to upstate New York, where her mother worked as the food supervisor for a restaurant chain. “I was surrounded by all different styles of cooking and worked in the food service industry in just about every capacity you can imagine,” Rachael says.

By her early twenties, Rachael developed a hankering for city life and moved to New York where she landed at Macy’s, working as the manager of the Fresh Foods Department. She credits her two years there for giving her an education in gourmet foods. After Macy’s, Rachael helped open Agata & Valentina, the prestigious New York gourmet marketplace, where she became the store manager and buyer.

Despite the exciting lifestyle in the foodie circles of New York City, Rachael decided to move back to upstate New York and start managing pubs and restaurants at the famed Sagamore Resort on Lake George. From there, she was recruited by Cowan & Lobel, a large gourmet market in Albany, to be their food buyer and eventually their “chef.”

As a way to increase grocery sales during the holidays, Rachael created a series of cooking classes, including a course promising to teach “30-Minute Mediterranean Meals,” which exploded in popularity. The CBS station in Albany-Schenectady, WRGB- TV, discovered Rachael and signed her on to do a weekly “30-Minute Meals” segment for the evening news. Nominated for two regional Emmys® in its first year, the segment was a major success; a companion cookbook sold 10,000 copies locally during the holidays. With that, a franchise was born!

Rachael’s television work grew to include a series of lifestyle and travel segments, as well as a long-term relationship with the Food Network, hosting shows such as Rachael’s Vacations, Tasty Travels, $40 A Day, Inside Dish and 30-Minute Meals, the latter of which earned Rachael a 2006 Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Service Show” and a nomination for “Outstanding Service Show Host.” In 2010, Rachael launched her first new cooking show in 10 years, A Week In A Day, which shows viewers how to plan a week’s worth of meals with just one day of cooking in the kitchen.

In addition to her television endeavors, Rachael has turned her 30-Minute Meals concept into a bestselling series of cookbooks, including 30-Minute Meals, 30-Minute Meals 2, 30-Minute Meals: Get Togethers, Comfort Foods, Veggie Meals, The Open House Cookbook, Cooking Round The Clock Rachael Ray 30-Minute Meals, Cooking Rocks! Rachael Ray 30-Minute Meals for Kids, Rachael Ray Best Eats In Town On $40 A Day, Rachael Ray 30-Minute Get Real Meals, Rachael Ray 365: No Repeats A Year of Deliciously Different Dinners, Express Lane Meals, 2-4-6-8: Great Meals for Couples or Crowds, Just in Time, Yum-o! The Family Cookbook, Rachael Ray’s Big Orange Book, Rachael Ray’s Book of 10 and Rachael Ray’s Look + Cook.

Taking the can-do spirit of her television shows and books, Rachael launched a new lifestyle magazine in 2005 bearing her vision called Every Day With Rachael Ray. With great food at its heart, the new full-size glossy magazine, for which Rachael serves as editor-in-chief, covers much more than food. The magazine offers smart and easy recipes for an array of delicious foods, as well as practical advice on food destinations and entertaining. Through the magazine, Rachael takes readers around the country to meet people who love food—from top celebrities and authentic artisans to great home cooks. In 2009, Every Day With Rachael Ray was named “Magazine of the Decade” by AdWeek, to Advertising Age’s “A-List” in 2008 and in 2011 the magazine underwent a full makeover, re-launching to rave reviews.

In the fall of 2006, Rachael launched the daily one-hour, nationally syndicated show Rachael Ray, which scored the highest-rated premiere for a syndicated talk show since the 2002 launch of Dr. Phil. It immediately secured its position among the top ranked daytime shows and was the No. 1 syndicated strip launched in the 2006-07 season. The daytime talker was immediately embraced by critics across the country. Time magazine wrote, “You can’t attract her kind of following by just being accessible. Ray, like Regis Philbin, is gifted at being on television.” Newsweek praised Rachael as being “the most down-to-earth TV star on the planet…” People magazine named Rachael Ray one of the top 10 shows of 2006, and Forbes voted her No. 2 “Most Trusted Celebrity.”

Rachael Ray won the Outstanding Talk Show-Entertainment Emmy® in 2008 and 2009 and scored three Daytime Emmy® nominations in 2010. Adding to the list of achievements, TelevisionWeek named her “Syndication Personality of the Year” in 2007 and BusinessWeek honored her as one of the “Best Leaders of 2006.” In its freshman year, Rachael Ray won a 2007 Daytime Emmy® Award and was nominated for six others including Outstanding Talk Show and Outstanding Talk Show Host.

The positive praise from the press and the remarkable season one ratings confirmed Rachael Ray as a syndication success and in January 2007, the show was renewed through 2012.

“My life has been a total accident — a very happy, wonderful accident that I didn’t and couldn’t have planned,” says Rachael. Despite her growing celebrity she is determined to stay grounded and hold on to her down-to-earth values. She still spends as much time as she can at her cabin in the Adirondacks with her husband, John, her family — the “research team”— and her beloved pit bull, Isaboo.

In the spring of 2007, Rachael Ray launched a nonprofit organization, Yum-o! that empowers kids and their families to develop healthy relationships with food and cooking. By providing the tools to create easy, affordable and delicious meals, Yum-o! is changing the way America eats. Yum-o!’s three work areas include educating kids and their families about cooking, feeding hungry American kids and funding cooking education and scholarships. For more information about the Yum-o! organization, please visit www.yum-o.org.

In 2008, Rachael partnered with Dad’s Pet Care to develop a line of super premium dog food and treats called Rachael Rayä Nutrish. All of Rachael’s proceeds from the sale of Nutrish are donated to support Rachael’s Rescue (www.rachaelsrescue.org), which is dedicated to helping at-risk animals through adoption, medical care and educational programs, along with training and outreach initiatives. In 2011, Rachael and Dad’s launched several new lines on treats and food called Nutrish Just 6 and Nutrish Healthy Weight.

In addition to a vibrant website, RachaelRay.com, in 2011 it was announced that Rachael would become the creative force behind eHow.com, a Demand Media (NYSE: DMD) property and leading online destination for practical, trusted advice and know-how, food channel – know as eHow Food. As part of the partnership, Rachael brings with her a group of Buddies—her talented friends, who are experts and up-and-coming voices in food. Now the millions of people who come to eHow.com, hungry for specialized and accessible food content, have access to new series, videos, feature articles and original blog posts with the personal touch of Rachael and her Buddies in a community that allows them to share their experiences.

Reed Alexander, celebrity food star and breakthrough actor, far surpasses his 16 years, having already laid the ground work for a budding culinary empire. Embracing his passion for cooking from an early age, Reed combines his on-camera talent with his affinity for nutritious and delicious recipes to launch his own online destination, KewlBites.com. In addition to starring as the infamous Nevel Papperman on Nickelodeon’s #1 rated comedy iCarly, off-camera, Reed generates and manages all content housed on this virtual hub. Leveraging both his TV and web platforms, Reed captivates a global audience which, like himself, values entertainment and lifestyle.

READY TO “ROLE”

Displaying a dynamic, go-getter attitude from an early age, Reed knew he had a knack for entertaining after his first acting job at seven years old. Within months, he researched talent agencies online, contacted various offices, and sought out his own representation. After a trip to LA with his parents, he was signed, and soon after he hit the small screen. Since the show’s premiere in 2007, Reed has played Nevel on iCarly, which is going into its fifth season. That same year, the ambitious teen star also wrote and sold a pilot to the network. Throughout the years, Reed has made countless television and movie appearances, including performances on NBC’s Will & Grace, Disney’s Kickin’ It, and Cartoon Network’s Out of Jimmy’s Head.

EARLY INTERVENTION

As a busy teen star, Reed balances auditions, tapings and media appearances all while attending a prestigious international online academy. As an early teen, Reed became overweight, and as a result, was exhausted and lethargic. Born into a family with a history of heart disease and diabetes, he knew he needed a serious change. Scouring the internet for food and fitness advice, the information he found largely applied only to adults, so he took matters into his own hands. By piecing together his research, Reed began exercising regularly and created his own recipes, tips and tricks that, in tandem, led to successful results. He witnessed a drastic change in his energy, weight and overall well-being.

A BUSINESS IS BORN

Spending most of his days in the kitchen, which he refers to as his “science lab,” Reed’s library of recipes grows everyday. Parlaying his ability to transcend multimedia platforms and engage a global audience, Reed pooled his research and catalogue of recipes into his own website. In December 2009, his 15th birthday, KewlBites (www.kewlbites.com) was also born. Within months, the site’s awareness soared as Reed cooked on various morning and talk shows.

Filled with the love for food at a young age, Adrianne focused her efforts on her one true aspiration, gourmet cuisine. At age 27, Adrianne has enjoyed an incredible number of accolades during her remarkable journey in becoming a recognized chef. Coining the catch phrase, “Maximum Flavor”, Adrianne has managed to exceed to the “maximum” degree. From graduating top of her class at Johnson & Wales University, to now owning and operating her own restaurant, Chef Adrianne’s Vineyard Restaurant and Wine bar, Adrianne has influenced the culinary community as well as the way people experience fine dining. Most recently, Chef Adrianne Calvo’s restaurant and wine bar was featured in the Miami New Times’ Best of Miami as having a “cozy, rustic charm.”

Incorporating many unique traits to her menu, The Napa Valley inspired restaurant offers a wide selection of her one of a kind “Maximum Flavor” infused dishes. Combined with her menu, she offers “Dark Dining”, which gives the diners an opportunity to experience food like no other by stimulating their senses through suppressing one of them. Along with being chef/owner of her restaurant, Adrianne has written two cookbooks, Maximum Flavor and Driven by Flavor Fueled by Fire.

Adrianne keeps herself very busy with different activities besides the daily operation of her restaurant. She is featured every Thursday morning on her very own Maximum Flavor TV segment on NBC6’s Live Miami. Through this show, she has been able to share with her viewers the savory and exotic recipes she has rapidly become known for as a culinary artist. Through her many TV appearances she has also been able to explore new recipes and perfect her culinary techniques on live television; a challenge she took on with great enthusiasm resulting in an incredibly positive response from her audience. After signing a multi-year endorsement deal in 2009 with Panda Kitchen and Bath, a Miami, Florida-based leader in the kitchen and bath remodeling market, Adrianne manages to juggle her already busy schedule making herself available for numerous appearances as the company’s spokesperson. In addition to her many activities as Panda’s spokesperson Adrianne is gearing up to be featured in the company’s new 2011 television ad campaign. Adrianne has been asked to participate at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival for the past 2 years (2010 & 2011). Working with children at the Fun and Fit as a Family event has been specially rewarding to her. Earlier this year (2011) Adrianne had the great honor of participating and filming an episode of The Food Networks original series, Chopped and it is scheduled to be aired in the fall.

Earlier in her culinary career, Adrianne worked at the 5-diamond, Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Miami. One of her most memorable experiences was working under Executive Pastry Chef Patrick Lassaque, who had been the executive pastry chef of the Ritz Carlton in Paris, for twenty years. It was there where Adrianne’s love for pastry was mastered. After working under exclusive chefs at the Mandarin Oriental, Adrianne took a trip to Napa Valley, California. There, she honed her craft under Chef Thomas Keller and Chef Cindy Pawlcyn; it was an experience that changed her perception of food forever and gave her the inspiration for her restaurant and cookbooks.

Along with her accolades, Adrianne has been able to give back to the community through her foundation “Make It Count,” collaborating with St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. There she has made it a mission to help children suffering from cancer and their families. In addition, she works together with the Greater Miami YMCA and other local organizations where she shares her inspiring story with children and young adults. Adrianne will also be participating in Chef’s Up Front, a culinary extravaganza to benefit Share Our Strength’s COOKING MATTERS program in fall of 2011.

Chef Adrianne Calvo has accomplished so much at such a young age and doesn’t plan on stopping any time soon. When she is not in the kitchen preparing delightful gourmet dishes she is relaxing at the beach, rollerblading, or keeping in touch with her fans via Facebook and Twitter. She is always looking for new inspiration to influence her unique style and loves hearing from her fans.

A Miami native of Jewish and Latin descent, this passionate culinaire has dazzled diners and critics alike with her sublime cuisine and a personality as bright and vibrant as the Florida sun. “My food isn’t heavy handed or unnecessarily complicated,” says Bernstein, a James Beard Award winner (Best Chef South 2008) and author of Cuisine a Latina (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt 2008). “You don’t need heavy handed technique and over the top presentations to make a dish work. It’s about amazing ingredients, layered flavors and simplicity. My style of cooking is inspired by my own food memories, my travels and usually it’s the simple, soulful cooking that stays with me. I cook the food I love and I think that love translates to the diners.”

Right now, diners are loving Bernstein’s cuisine at her two successful Miami outposts, Michy’s and SRA. Martinez, which she owns and operates with her partner/ husband David Martinez. Sporting distinctly different styles and cuisines, both display the earnestness, passion and dedication that have made Bernstein one of the region’s brightest culinary stars. In addition to an ever-growing restaurant empire – Michelle Bernstein at The Omphoy in Palm Beach county, Florida opened fall 2009 – Bernstein recently launched the Miami chapter of Common Threads, an after-school program dedicated to teaching underprivileged kids ages 8-11 to cook, socialize, and eat healthy.
